Welcome to Lancashire cycle links Share the Road sportive on Sunday 22nd September 2013.
As we all know there have been far too many cycling accidents on our local roads of late even cycling hero and local rider Sir Bradley Wiggins has been a victim of some careless driving .
Share The Road hopes to raise awareness of cyclists using the road and make cyclist more aware of their surroundings and to be courteous of others (no jumping red lights).
Share the road will be starting at the UCLAN sports arena Preston and will have three routes all heading up to the village of Chipping where we have our first feed station with free juice and energy gels. The shorter route will then head back to the arena whilst the two other routes will continue on to Dunsop Bridge, the very centre of England , there will be another stopping point at the village hall where you will be able to purchase refreshments.
Both these routes will then make their way back to the arena via different routes but converging at Whitewell, so will spend a large part of the return on the same route.
The cost of the event is £20 per rider and all profits will go to the NorthWest Air Ambulance; a worthy cause we are sure you will agree. All riders will receive a High 5 nutrition rider pack worth £15, with plenty to fuel your ride and more. There will be a free raffle for all entrants, with some great prizes on offer (more details soon).
The routes will be clearly marked (green short route, pink medium and yellow long route) there will also be warning signs of any potential road hazards.
All routes will be starting in groups of no more than 20, from 08:30, as this is not a closed road event but does generally follow quiet country roads.
We hope to see you for Share The Road in September. Sign up using our application form here.
